This workshop is intended land owners, farmers, landscapers and anybody who is involved in land management. We will look at the value of ponds for biodiversity; the role ponds, wetlands and water management can play in climate resilience. We will examine the construction process; explore when to use artificial liners or when existing ground conditions may be suitable; and look at the pros and cons of planting a new pond. We will also discuss buffer zones within the urban and farming landscapes; how these can help filter water; and what their limitations and benefits are. The day will include a talk and slide presentation by Féidhlim Harty and a walk around the diverse pond habitats of the Tralee Bay Wetlands park. . There will be plenty of scope for questions and answers, so bring any current pond plans and projects for discussion and feedback.

These workshops are funded by LAWPRO and are a collaboration between Transition Kerry & Tralee Bay Wetlands.
